Over 35 mines exploded as a major fire broke out in the forest area along the line of control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district but there was no loss of life or damage to property.
The blaze, which erupted at Rawalkote in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir yesterday and quickly spread to the forest area on the Indian side near the Chakan-Da-Bagh crossing, was brought under control this morning, officials said.
More than 35 mines, planted by the army to check infiltration, exploded due to intense heat triggering panic among residents of the border area, they said.
Army troops, forest officials and locals extinguished the fire, the officials said adding there was no loss of life or damage to property.
